The Mary Silveira Walk-a-Thon!

This Year's Mary Silveira Walk-a-Thon, Take a Walk on the Wild Side, was broken up into 32 segments. Our 4th and 5th-grade classes closed out the event this past Monday. Overall, the Walkathon was a huge success! The students loved walking with their class and participating in this traditional event!

 

Reminder:

All online donations through the 99 Pledges website are due Friday, April 2nd.

We have extended the deadline for hard copy pledge envelopes. IF you have a pledge envelope to return, please return it to the school by Wednesday, April 14.

Which schedule will my child be on?

If your child is currently in the Hybrid AM Group, they will follow the "AM" schedule.

If your child is currently in the Hybrid PM Group, they will follow the "PM" schedule.

When Can I Drop Off and Pick Up My Child?

 

AM: If you are in the "AM" group, please drop your child off between 8:05am and 8:15am. School starts at 8:15am or them.

Please pick your child up between 1:55pm - 2pm.

 

PM: If you are in the "PM" group, please drop your child off NO EARLIER than 8:15am. School starts for them at 8:25am.

Please pick your child up NO EARLIER than 2:05pm. School gets out for them at 2:10pm.

Please do NOT drive into our car loop before 2:05pm if you are in the PM group.

Will Children Be Eating Snack and Lunch at School?

Yes! If you send your child to school with a quick snack to eat, they may do so at morning recess. If you send them to school with lunch, they will eat that during their lunch break. For information on registering and ordering lunch only, please see the next section below.

School Lunch Program Available for In-Person and MCVA!

The US department of Agriculture extended all Seamless Summer Option (SSO) waivers through June 30, 2021.  This allows schools to offer free meals to all children under age 18.  Distance learners will be able to order a 5-day meal kit (vegetarian or meat).  In-person learners will be able to order simple daily GrabnGo cold lunches to have at school. (vegetarian or meat)

Parents must register their children by creating an account at:

After creating an account, you must place your order for the week of April 12th no later than 10 am on Thursday, April 8.   Please note that orders for the following week must be placed a full week before. (order by 10 am 4/12 for the week of 4/19).

MCVA students can pick up their meal kits on Mondays between 12 pm to 1pm at Mary Silveira.

Our Very Own DEI Newsletter!

The Mary Silveira Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion group put together an amazing newsletter focusing on the month of April.

Parent & Youth Helpline and Parents Anonymous

In partnership with Governor Newsom, Parents Anonymous® Inc. recently launched the California Parent & Youth Helpline and Online Parents Anonymous® Support Groups in response to the Coronavirus to provide free trauma-informed, evidenced-based emotional support to Parents, Children and Youth in any language via calls, text, live chat and email.  The California Parents & Youth Helpline operates 7 days a week from 8:00AM-8:00PM. 

Parents can Join a Weekly Online Support Group NOW through the website: caparentyouthhelpline.org. In this confidential setting, Parents address their underlying emotions and build resiliency to strengthen their family.

1) Spirit Days for MCVA!

2) Auto-enrolled in Homeschool

Please know that your child or children currently enrolled in MCVA will be automatically enrolled in your homeschool for next school year. If you have questions about that, please reach out.

 

3) MCVA: April 12 - June 10

Students enrolled in virtual academy classes will continue remotely for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

5) Transferring Back to In-Person Learning

 

Good afternoon MCVA families,

 

In response to an increasing number of parent requests to transition out of MCVA and back to in-person instruction on campus, the district has developed a process and timeline for addressing these requests. Early this year, families were asked to commit to enrollment in the MCVA academy for the full school year so that the district could align staffing with the number of students needing a remote learning environment. Initially, movement between MCVA and hybrid classes was allowed as space permitted. This flexibility ended in November in an effort to stabilize classroom enrollment.  

 

As we extend our in-person instructional time, families in MCVA have indicated a new interest in returning to the classroom. If your family is now considering making a transition to in-person instruction, please provide a request in writing, including the reasons for the request, to Kathryn Neville at 380 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael, CA 94903 or to her via email at kneville@millercreeksd.org by Friday, April 16th. 

 

In order to ensure equitable access, the district will follow board policy and conduct a lottery if the number of individuals seeking transfers to in-person instruction exceeds the number of district open seats for a grade level. Please keep in mind that earlier in the year a class was collapsed at both Mary E Silveira and Vallecito which opened up additional capacity needed in MVCA. This expansion of the MCVA now limits the available enrollment capacity at these sites and it is possible that space in a grade level you have requested may not be available at your home school should a lottery be necessary. Students who move to an opening at a school site other than their residence school of assignment will still have a space reserved for them at their home school for Fall 2021. 

 

Local quarantine guidance is an additional factor that will guide the district’s transition timeline. Once a family accepts a transfer opportunity this is considered a new enrollment to the stable cohort/group that has been attending in-person and the family will need to follow the SSSPP protocol and quarantine for 10 days or the quarantine may be discontinued after 7 days with a negative test (antigen or molecular) completed on Day 5 or later and the student remains asymptomatic.   • Thurs. April 22 Notification to families, Quarantine period starts

  • Fri. April 30 Orientation day for students who have a negative test result
