Dear MES Community,  I just wanted to thank you all once again. I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart:  It has been a true honor and pleasure serving the Mary Silveira community these past four years. I have worked in education for the past 24 years and this is hands down the best community I’ve ever been a part of. These past four years have been marked by challenge and change, ups and downs, and yet despite all of it, you were always supportive, down to Earth, ready to help, and fun!

I really can’t thank you enough for being so welcoming of me when I first got to MES, and for being so caring in the years that followed. Whenever I needed anything, there was always a parent or more who stepped up to help.

All of you are a part of MESHSA, and MESHSA has been nothing but marvelous in my time at MES. Whether the ask was small, medium, or huge, MESHSA was always there. From organizing Ice Cream Socials, Harvest Festivals, Dances, Movie Nights, Talent Shows, Walkathons, Field Day, etc., to putting on teacher luncheons, buying flowers, plaques, funding teachers grants, or purchasing our 40 foot storage container, MESHSA has always been there, and it has made our school such a better place as a result.

Can Do! has also been incredible in the funding of technology, Art, Music, PE, SEL, and more! Thank you to all the parents who have ever contributed any amount to Can Do!, because that all benefits our MES students exponentially and also makes our school a better place.

I also want to thank our staff, who has been pivotal. From the District Office to those in the classrooms, all of our staff has done a phenomenal job navigating the pandemic and guiding our students through a challenging couple years here. They have shown resilience and flexibility at every turn, and I’m grateful for their expertise and leadership at every level. I have a lot of pride in our staff, and firmly believe our students are in great hands. Even more so because I know Derek Lecy, and know you’ll all be in great hands with him at the helm. He’s going to be perfect!

Finally, let me talk about our students. MES has a wonderful student body, worthy of the name, Stars. I have truly enjoyed getting to know each and every student over the years. And I have also appreciated their warm embrace of me when I arrived and the touching and heartfelt goodbyes I received from them in our last school days together. Parents, you have done something right, because your kids are fantastic and will grow up to make the world a better place, I have no doubt.

Thank you again for everything. MES holds a special place in my heart, and I will cherish my time here.

Keep Shining Brighter Together and Go Stars!
